Cycling pictures

I rode into the office this last Wednesday and took some pictures. It was great to get outside in the early morning, but the ride home was a bear. I should never try to do anything active on an empty stomach. The wind didn't help either and it took nearly twice as long.

Overall it was great though. The Nike office here is about 40 kilometers from our place so it was a good distance. I had my iPhone as travel companion, music provider, navigator and camera. Yes I took the pictures while I was riding... sorry mom.

Ok, hopefully this is the start of more blog posts for me, as well as lots of cycling the beautiful dutch countryside.

Off to the beach

The weather has been so nice here lately, we went to the beach last weekend! It was our first time at a Dutch beach since we never made it out last summer, and Rocket's first time at a beach ever.

The area we went to was called Zandvoort, and was way nicer than either of us expected. It was a little windy out, but beautiful, with nice soft sand stretching for miles. And we were amazed at how easy it was to get there - just a half an hour on the train and you're right there.

I have a feeling this will be the first of many beach trips this spring/summer, but here are a few pictures from the day:

Amsterdam zoo

Despite living half a block away, Brian and I had never been to the zoo before last weekend - Brian's dad gave us a good excuse to go. It was a really nice zoo - and I'm glad we finally got to go. They had a lot of interesting animals that we'd never heard of before, and we didn't get attacked by a gorilla (see this story on the Rotterdam zoo)!

Big cats are my favorite

Brian's dad visits

Brian's dad Rick came to visit last week as our official first visitor since we moved here. It was really nice to have family around and to get to show him our favorite things about the city.

He stayed over the Easter weekend and we had a lot of fun exploring and walking/biking around, and were lucky enough to have nice weather the whole time. We walked around and saw plenty of canals, biked around a few of Amsterdam's most beautiful parks, went to the zoo (we live across from it and had never been till this weekend) and of course hung out with the dog.

Some pictures below:
