It was a fun, quick trip - we stayed two nights, and left Friday morning (if I had actually thought about it I would have stayed until at least Friday afternoon or so, but for some reason I tried to fly out at the same time as Brian which made no sense since he had to go straight to work from the airport). We got to stay right in the center of London, by a cool shopping area called Oxford Circus (pictured below):
Even though Brian was at work most of the time, I had a really nice time just walking around and exploring the city. I've been to London somewhere around 5 or 6 times, and especially this time it really felt like I was going to the big city, since Amsterdam is so small and quaint. Plus, since I've been getting a bit homesick lately, it was strangely comforting to see familiar American sites like this one:
I also got really excited at the thought of Christmas, which is in full swing in London already, when I saw department store displays like this:
It was a nice reminder that we are headed home to the States for the holidays in just a little bit more than a month.
I also got to attend part of a photoshoot (Brian's reason for going) while I was there, which was pretty interesting since at one point I thought that's what I might want to do with my life. And, since Brian was there with some London-savvy eaters, we went to some great restaurants, which is always a plus.
We really miss you all at home, and would love to hear from any of you that we haven't heard from for a while!

Krista, I check in on you guys all the time, but it seems like I never have time to actually write and say hello. So here's a great big hello and hug from L.A.
Your apartment looks lovely and light and airy - and much more personal since you arrived. I bet Brian is so grateful you are there. We are doing well here, although our boys are home sick with the stomach flu - poor little bubbies! It's wonderful to have Amy and Jamie here, but I bet when they read this entry, they'll be torn that they couldn't be there to see you two on your visit to London. I love the pictures that you took. I've never been to London and I've always dreamt about visiting there - especially during the holidays. Thank you for letting me live vicariously through you for a little bit.
I'm sorry you're feeling a little bit homesick right now. I've heard that it takes 2-3 years before you really feel at home in a new place. That stinks, I know, but remember you guys have lots of people who love you all over the world and we're all thinking of you and sending you warm thoughts for the cold months ahead.
I promise I'll try to write more often, but in the meantime, did I ever tell you about how Brian and I went out for dinner right after you two first met? He was terribly smitten, just like Mike was when he first met Molly. I will always remember him talking about the pretty waitress he liked at the vegetarian cafe. Look at you two jetsetters now.
Darn, London again. We here in the states are green with envy. Speaking of the US, it's raining like crazy now, a real "pineapple express" (storm straight from Hawaii). Could be some flooding. Supposed to get nicer this weekend. Thinking about taking Mama kayaking at the Ridgefield wildlife refuge Sunday.
Sara got groomed today; she smells good and looks so pretty. L D
